Day 15. Ship it baby !

Don't need to comment this graph, it speaks for itself :) My bankroll reached the magic $1000 mark. Not going to celebrate it, but I am pretty happy about the results so far.

Today I spent couple of hours researching my NL $50 Database. I have around 300k hands mined, which is enough to study the "profit area". All bad players were added to my buddy list, so I might even take a shot tomorrow. Depends on how many of them will be available.

I hate playing underrolled, but occasional shots are fine. If I get lucky, by the end of the week my bankroll should be around $1500 including rakeback. It means that after another week or so, I will be able to play Heads Up games. Then it might go even faster, since I am way better at Heads Up, then at 6max.

Might be an upswing mood, but for now I think I have a descent chance to accomplish my goal faster then I planned. Would be nice to do so ;)

Anyway, stay tuned and good luck !

Day 13. Climbing the Everest

I was very close to report another breakeven result, but the end of the session saved it again. A player on my right went on tilt and I managed to get some dividends out of it. Not as much as couple of other guys, but I am fine with it.
Also received my weekly rakeback - $73 this time.

Bankroll: $854

I've accumulated 4000 FTP points so far. Not too much, but I probably should start thinking about the best way to convert them. At this point it doesn't make much sense to bBad Beat stress guyuy anything from FTP store, even though Bad Beat stress guy looks nice :) But seriously, I am thinking about two ways:

a) Load them in satellites to the mayor Sunday tournaments.

b) Play 600 or 1800 points SnGs for a $24 token and convert these in Heads up SnGs.

c) Collect 3 999 996 more points and get myself a Harley-Davidson. I am sure its gonna be cool to have one in 2029 :)

Good luck at the tables !

From $100 to $10000 in 15 days? Easy!

Recently I've wrote a post about an incredible propbet I discovered online. Well, its over now and as you could guess he did it. It actually took him 14 days to finish. Here is a final quote from his blog:

My sharkscope profit reached 10011$ at one point so I was over 9900$ profit and I won the bet. Scotty declared me the winner.
Ran a little bad in my last few sngs though and my end bankroll at the session was only 9939.85 but luckily rule 7 says it is over as soon as I reached the 9.9K profit.
I have 36 hours left though and I will do a little victory lap tomorrow and grind some 3$ Sngs till I have the 10000$ bankroll as I want to post a screenshot with a 10K roll to prove that I won

It is simply incredible ! Overall, he played a total of 7,432 games (381,804 hands) with buy-ins ranging from $1 to $16 and his average ROI was 15%. In short, he made $1.36 for every SnG he played.

Day 11. Slowly but surely

0 comments Email to a friend

The last two days weren't too great, but I still made some progress. Hopefully, it won't take me more then 10 days to reach NL 50. I've already started datamining games, since my Bankroll Management is a bit too aggressive and I want to make sure I start grinding the weakest available games. I am also going to start using SpadeEye for a better table selection. So far I was just sitting in at a new tables and playing with whoever joins.
This is, by the way, a descent game selection method (even though, technically, there is no selection), since most of the players who join new tables are action freaks. The good thing is, you can always change a seat. Of course, often you simply don't know these players, but I always swap my seat to the left of the first one who joins, since he is probably bad :) You also need some Heads up skills, but usually tables fill in pretty fast.

I also played some $5 Heads up SNGs for $35 profit.

Finally, the hand that saved the last 2 poker days from being negative:

$0.1/$0.25 No-Limit Hold'em (2 handed)
Poker Tools by Stoxpoker.com

Known players:
BB = ($53.73)
SB(Hero) = ($53.70)

Preflop: Hero is SB with A, K.
Hero raises to $0.75, BB calls $0.50.

Flop: ($1.50) A, A, K (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $1.00, BB calls $1.00.

Turn: ($3.50) J (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $2.25, BB calls $2.25.

River: ($8.00) 6 (2 players)
BB bets $49.73(All-In), Hero calls $49.70(All-In).

Final Pot: $107.43.

Results follow:
Hero shows a full-house, aces full of kings (A K)
BB shows a full-house, kings full of aces (K K)

Sick cooler, but the guy clearly overdid it on the river :)

Bankroll: $720

Day 9. Payback

Monday is my poker weekend, so I haven't played at all. Here is a Sunday graph:

Slightly above the expectation, which is fine :) I am extremely tired at the moment, so its gonna be the end of the post. I am probably going to write couple off topic (off BRM topic) posts this week. Haven't decided yet whether its gonna be a strategy article or some poker philosophy :) Will see how I feel.

Bankroll: $650

Good luck at the tables !

Day 7. Does varience have a sense of humor?

It is funny how things work in poker. Yesterday I won $280, today I lost $220 =) Leaves me with +$60 profit and about $120 sklansky bucks that I hope to get soon. I also received my weekly rakeback - another $30.
I've doubled up my bankroll in a week, so can't complain about the overall result.

Bankroll: $555

Its funny to play NL 25 again. My last playing experience on this limit was about 3 years ago. I had grinded it through and never came back. However, back in the past it was a huge deal for me. As the most of beginners, I started at NL 10 and moved to NL 25 with 20 buy-ins - $500 (20 buy-ins was considered a standard BRM). Moving up in stakes for the first time feels really great, I can still remember it. Its a first achievement, first taste of success. And even though, in terms of $ its not a big deal, still feels like a huge step. Probably comparable with the first promotion of a corporate employee. I remember the night before my first NL 25 session. I was so excited that couldn't fell asleep for couple of hours and the first session was a huge stress. Every $ put in pot means world to you and PT stats are checked every 5 hands =)

I haven't played much poker in the past year, especially cash games. It was interesting to me in what shape my skills are, as I used to be a long term winning regular in 200/400 NL SH/HU games. To my surprise, I found my skill in a pretty good shape. Its a bit too early to make conclusions, because NL 25 is obviously not a challenge for a former mid stakes regular. However, my thinking still seems pretty descent.

I caught myself doing a lot of unnecessary brain work, though. For example, when I am in the hand, I always think about how my overall range plays out in this particular spot (in terms of bet sizing, etc) Its a waste of time (on NL 25), by the most part, but I can't help myself. I've simply trained my brain to work this way.

I am also auto balancing my ranges. For example, I cbet on a low rainbow board as a preflop aggressor (with a made hand), opponent calls, turn brings an overcard and I automatically fire again. Even though, I do realize that in this particular hand most of opponent's range won't stand a second barrel, I still bet it, just because I will do so without a made hand. Balancing is one of the most important things postflop, however, it isn't much of a concern when you are up against 34/10 guy. Against the majority of the players I am dealing with, each hand should be approached from the value maximization point.
To help myself, I sticked a note on the corner of my screen with 2 words on it: Maximize value. Hopefully it will help =)

SICK propbet

0 comments Email to a friend

I was surfing the web today and found totally sick poker proposition bet. The guy claims he can turn $100 into $10000 in just 15 days. But details of a propbet are even more fascinating, I will simply quote them:

Rules for 100$ into 10000$ in 15 days
  1. I have 15 days from starting point meaning 360 hour. Starting point will be 3rd March 1:00 p.m. Central european time. So it will end 18th March 12:59 p.m.
  2. I can only play Sngs with a maximum buy in of 16$
  3. 180man or 90man do not count
  4. If I go broke at any point I lost the bet
  5. Profit only, Rakeback and Bonus, player transfers or BoP cashes do not count
He was accepting 3:1 bets. In other words, if you think he not gonna make it, you can bet $300 to win $100. As far as I understood he got $30 000 of action.

Today is Day 10 since the whole thing has started. Here is the last graph:

Tell me this is not SICK! 5500 18/45 man SNGs in 10 days ! 550 SNG's per day/55 tabling 10+ hours per day. Now, isn't he a Terminator? At least some sort of an alien :)

It is very interesting to follow, since he has 5 days left to win another $4500 !
You can watch him on a live webcam here (how come he isn't melted yet?)
